I am pretty sure that the 1998 is the same as the 1999 I just installed. They have the same part number. There are 3 screws in the plastic cowel just under the steering wheel that you take out and it allows the plastic upper and lower pieces to come out. There is a small button that pushes in at the back of the switch when you turn the switch to the on position. You have too push in this button and pull the switch assembly from the housing. There is a wire that has to be unplugged that controls the theft system. Hope this helps.
