This is what I just did. First remove the 6 screws from both sides of the console. Next, remove the bottom rubber plate of the rear glove box of the console. It has a small grove that you can use a screw driver to pop it out. . Then remove the 2 screws you will see. Next, using a strong grip around the small grove (doesn't look like there is actually one there) , pull the rear cupholder/ashtray straight back. Inside you will see 2 bolts and 2 nuts holding the rear of the console to the floor. Remove them. Next, there is a wire plug you can see from the rear that goes up toward the passenger. This is for the front cigarette lighter on the console. Unplug it and remove the holder from the brace. This is the only wire disconnection. Next take the nut off of the emergency brake that pulls the cables, then raise the brake handle completely up. The console is now ready for removal, but first you must put the transmission in drive. Make sure the engine is OFF and the brake is set so it won't move. Lift up on the rear of the console (seems pretty high) and pull backwards. Pulling rearward pulls the 2 front pins out of their holders. Lift it out and you are done.

The best way to do it is to remove the whole center bezel (where the radio sits in) be very careful not to crack it. there are screws holding it in, you'll see them. If you have a radio installed, do what you have to do to get the bezel out. The vents on the top of the bezel are attached to it, so be carefull and work it out "SLOWLY". then remove the carpet panels, which are running from front to back on the side of the seats. there are 3 screws holding each one in. then remove the console bezel where the two window switches set into. you'll see the hex head nuts, two on each side (i believe) of the console bezel and two underneath where the radio bezel sat on. this should be enough to raise the console up and look underneeth the switches and you'll find them held in by two more hex head screws. reverse the installation. good luck!

You have to start by removing the top of the center console. Once this out of the way, the bezel will then unsnap from the dash. Use your fingers, tools will just get you into trouble. The bottom of the bezel is the hardest to remove because the floor console is partially in the way. Then the center console will lift up and out of the way, exposing two screws at the bottom of the bezel surrounding the radio and containing the cigarette lighter. Remove the rubber bumpers under the lid, remove the screws and compartment liner; remove the 2 screws under the liner; remove the shifter bezel by pulling up; remove the 2 screws that hold the front of the console to the dash; pull up on the emergency brake handle as high as you can, then pull the console back and raise the rear of console and pull up to clear the emergency brake handle.

push open the ashtray to give yourself room to fit a flathead screwdriver to the bottom left of the bezel, do not remove the ashtray. pry up the bottom left part of the bezel, then the bottom right, then the middle left, then the middle right, then the top left, and finally the top right . the bezel should come right off. remove the five connectors attached to the bezel by pushing down on the taps and pulling them out. next remove the four Phillips head screws at each corner of the stereo. pull out the stereo and remove the wiring harness by pushing down on the tab and just pull out the single black antenna wire.

I have an 87 Calais automatic with a floor shifter. The console doesn't have to come out. The bezel around the radio snaps into the lower dash with 4 clips. Carefully pry out the bezel and then you'll be able to get to the mounts for the radio. I have pictures of the dash with the radio removed if it will help.
