Run the engine until it reaches normal operating temperature.
If this is a 2.5L with cartridge-in-pan type filter, you'll need a socket that fits the pan. Be advised that most quicky-lube-mart-and-potato-chips type places probably haven't been replacing your filter and now you will need to replace the oil pan before you can change your oil filter. Litigation may be in order.
If this is any other engine, turn the filter counterclockwise until oil starts dripping out. Continue turning it until it falls off. Say a few naughty words, then install the new filter and clean up the mess.

where is the fuel fiter located on a 1989 buick century wagon 2.5l 4cyl, and how do i go about replacing it.
drivers side rear you'll see a cmall silver canister with a line going in and out of it it will have a white clip that needs to be pinched to remove the filter. good luck
Remove the air filter hose and front cover, then remove the two screws on the top of the air filter box. The top will tilt away from you, then slide out. Under that is the computer (you can see where all the wires go in on the left side of the air filter assembly).
