Its very simple actually. You pull very hard straight up. Watch your face though, i about knocked myself out when mine came off. There is also an easier way as well. I took a chisel and placed it right under the shift knob then got a hammer and went to town on the chisel. The shifter popped right off lol the easiest way is to sit in the drivers seat, put it in 2nd gear, grab with both hands, and pull, you cant hurt yourself or ur car that way

The shift knob comes off with a counterclockwise turn, use some elbow grease some of these are hard to remove.
