Open the bonnet, remove the scuttle cover, wiper motor, and finally blower motor.
Blower is a dual squirrel cage unit located under the wiper arm assembly. You will need to remove this and the engine bay fire wall center section to gain access.
After 1985, the wiper is a panoramic style - one big wiper. The motor assembly is located under the air intake grille, below the wiper. Remove the wiper arm - small plastic cover, bolt(s) underneath, slide off arm. Then undo the bolts/screws holding the grille on, some of which are UNDER the rubber surround - lift it up to expose them. There is an electrical connector box - disconnect this. There is a bracket that supports the wiper assembly, undo one bolt, then it should slide out/down into the heater air intake (below the wiper assembly) and then UP and out. At this point, its best to find a working one from an auto wrecker - the motor etc. from Mercedes is rather expensive!
how remove cylinder head
To locate the blower control resistor, windshield wiper then plastic panels under windshield wiper must be removed. Then remove wiper motor and linkage assembly. In the center of the car under the wiper linkage the plastice heater motor cover must be removed. Remove heater motor. The resistor/controller mounts directly below the heater motor. Resistor unit and wire harness must be removed as an assembly. Install new resistor and work back through directions. Due to the amount of labor involved it is recommended to check the blower motor at the same time.
The 1985 Mercedes-Benz 190e has the most common hook-end wiper arms. See sources and related links below for installation videos. Also, purchase the replacement blades first and there will be additional instructions/illustrations on the replacement packages. Locate and press the tab or button where the wiper blade is inserted into the hook of the wiper arm and pull wiper blade out of hook. You may have to rotate and flex the blade to make enough clearance for the hook to pass through.
A Mercedes 190e doesn't have a carburetor. They are fuel injected.
oil filter on a Mercedes 190E 1986 is in the back of engine
On my 1984 190E, it is simple - there are a couple of tabs at the bottom of the back seat (where your heels would be if you were sittng), you have to look, the seat will pull right out!
The auxiliary fan on a Mercedes is located in front of the radiator. To remove it, one should remove the wiring connection from the fan first, then unscrew the bolts holding the fan in place.
