A really sloppy arm rest with side to side movement means that the welds on the arm rest cage have broken away from the seat mounting, there are two welds on the rear of the arm rest cage with no welds on the front of it, which is a drawing board design fault,
Because of the inner air bags on both the front seats and the fact that the up holstery is not meant to be remove by the layman it is virtually impossible to get the cage back into place and reweld it, From my own experience it is cheaper and less time consuming to buy a good one from a scrap yard / breakers,

Type your answer here... If you can get just the armrestcover you can put it on yourself, its not that hard. Run the back of the seat tilted forward toward the steering wheel. There is a plastic track at the bottom of the seat back that can be undone, allowing you to reach up inside the seat. Look up where the armrest is and you will see a retintion clip on the armrest shaft. Use some long needle nose pliers to pull that clip off and the arm rest can be slid out of the seat. On the bottom side of the armrest you will see how to unhook the armrest cover and slide it off the arm.

hello is anybody there ? What year and model might help. Simple. Lower the armrest, then push IN HARD. The armrest will push in slightly towards the seat. When this happens, push DOWN on the armrest, twisting it until just about straight downwards. You'll feel the armrest loosen up. Jiggle it slightly while PULLING OUT on it-- it should then pull out of the seatback. After it's out, you'll see it operates by a pin on the armrest shaft that fits into a keyhole on the seat.

You will have to pull up the seat fabric on the backrest enough that it exposes the area where the armrest is mounted. Inside you will see the pole from the armrest coming into the seat, held in place with a sort of horseshoe shaped clip. The clip also has a rubber band holding the two open ends tight together. Using needle-nose pliers, remove the rubber band. Then take screwdriver and push the clip backwards out of it's groove. The armrest will then come right out. For re-installation: before placing the armrest back on, attach the clip and the rubber band and re-seat the fabric properly. Once the seat is ready, simply shove the armrest through the hole and you will hear a "click" meaning the clip has grabbed the armrest.
