You have to replace the flasher unit. The good news is that they are not very expensive, less than $10.00 per unit. The bad news is that your hands will suffer from battle scars, but that is over in about a day. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. Remove the upper and lower dashboard bezels on the driver side. All you need for that is a Philips screwdriver to remove the screws and a flat head screwdriver to loosen the pins attaching the bezels to the dash. The Haynes book says to also disconnect the parking brake release latch, but I didn't have the strength to do that, so I had to leave the bottom bezel hanging a bit. The flasher unit is far up inside the dashboard, hanging from u-shaped hook that opens to the right, like this ( < ), which is attached to the bottom of the upper left A/C vent. A large hand will just barely be able to reach the unit, and I don't stick metal tools where I can't see what they're touching. When you find a round, flat shape that is about 1 inch thick in the area of that vent, pull it to your right, and you will feel it coming loose. After you remove it from the hook, pull down until you can see the unit and the cable that it plugs into, pull the unit and cable directly apart like unplugging a lamp from a wall. Straight. No fair jiggling, now. Could damage the connection in the cable. Replace with new unit. Usually, replacement will be reverse of removal. However, my new unit was the loud clicking type and didn't have the little button that you will see on your old unit, so I couldn't put it back up on the hook. Not a big deal. I just wrapped some electrical tape around the cable and taped it to another cable nearby (do make sure that both cables are in good condition before doing that, though). Then, replace your bezels, hook up your negative power terminal, start your car and check your signals. You should be good to go. (Editors, please feel welcome to chime in. After all, we don't want this poor person to be stuck freezing or burning his or her arm off with hand signals forever. LOL!) Good luck, and blessings to you
