the nuts holding the heater core box is in the engine compartment. the wheelwell needs to be removed to access the nuts. once all the nuts are removed, remove the heater hoses from the firewall and then wiggle out the heater box, but be careful of the cables and wiring. lower the box and remove the cables from the levers and the wiring from the heater resistor pack. remove heater core and reinstall

If you cut the housing down to fit the chevelle it will work but to just take and try to put it under the chevelle it's too long.

The heater core is located under the hood inside the big box mounted to the firewall on the passenger side. 1)Remove the access panels or the split heater/air conditioning case to gain 2)access to the heater core. 3)Remove the heater coolant hoses. 4)Remove the cable and/or vacuum control lines (if equipped). 5)Remove the heater core securing brackets and/or clamps. 6)Lift the core from the case. Do not use force. Take care not to damage the fins of 7)the heater core when removing. 8)To reinstall the heater core, reverse the removal steps.
