They screw in from the back. Sometimes the light assy has to be removed.
Turn you high beams on and check your tail light. If its brighter, you have a head light bulb as a tail light bulb. 97-02 are the only ones that should do this. Find a tail light bulb and replace.(I couldn't believe it either).
no i did not replace head light switch
To replace the brake light bulbs on a 1997 Ford Probe, first, open the trunk and locate the tail light assembly. Remove the screws or clips securing the tail light assembly and carefully pull it out. Twist the bulb socket counterclockwise to remove it, then pull the old bulb straight out and replace it with a new one. Reinsert the socket, reassemble the tail light assembly, and test the new bulb to ensure it works.
i am not sure you mean brake lights or tail lights. If brake lights don't work. You have to check out a brake light switch,(it conects to your brake pedal) make sure both wires are conected to the switch. And if tail lights don't work, you have to replace a head light switch.(where you turn your head light on and off)
remove the screws which are hard to get to.
I am pretty sure it is the same as on my 97. If so, go into the trunk on both sides. Several small bolts are mounted on the firewall. Removing the bolts will loosen the tail lens glass. Read more:
check brake light switch
Open the tailgate. On the inside next to the tail light, there will be two plastic covers. Remove them. You will see a Phillips head screw deep in the hole. These hold the light in place. Be careful removing them because they can fall down inside the vehicle. Use a magnetic tip screwdriver if possible. The light will then pull out of the truck. Then remove the plastic light module from the tail light. All the bulbs are connected to this module. Installation is reverse of removal. Just be careful not to drop the screw in the body cavity.
Pop the trunk. Pull back the carpet/plastic piece that covers the back side of the tail light. there are three bolts and two wires with clips. Push the button on the clips and pull them out firmly. Remove the bolts, the whole light should then slide out of the back. Put the new one in, put on the bolts and connect the wires.
To replace the light, it all depends on the year of the Accord. I have a 5th gen(94-97), and I know how to replace the 4th gen(90-93)
eBay or a junkyard would be the least expensive options available
