You can change an idler pulley on a 2001 Monte Carlo by first, removing the negative cable from the battery. Using a socket wrench, loosen the tension adjustment bolt. Slide the serpentine belt away from the pulley. Remove?æthe center bolt, and remove the pulley from the engine. Replace the pulley,?æreturn and tighten the bolts, and replace the serpentine belt.
Pry up on the tensioner pulley.
Where is the thermostat on a 2001 Lincoln LS?
i cant seem to get my tension idle aligned properly.. i think it's the washer alignment is wrong. 2000 qx4 top idle pulley
Remove air box, pulley is located just under attached to engine block. Should remove bolts take off belt, and replace pulley and belt.
Remove serpentine belt. Unbolt old pulley. Install new one & serpentine belt.
You need to rent, borrow or purchase a power steering pulley puller. This tool will remove and replace the pulley without damage to the pulley or the pump.
Give the belt a couple of quick, short tugs to relieve the tension. The belt is most likely jammed. Then if it releases, pull it out slowly. If you pull the belt out too fast, it will often lock up. My mistake, I thought seat belt. The pulley that doesn't connect to anything like the crank or alternator is the tension pulley. It is spring loaded. Some have a place for a ratchet to go or you pry against the housing or the pulley itself as long as you don't pinch the belt. Relieve the tension and slip the belt off of another pulley and release the tension.
The pulley is pressed fit onto the pump. It will not come off the pump. You have to replace the pump to replace it.
Lincoln is havn`t timing belt, there only chain :-)
You don't. The 2001 Lincoln Continental does not have a timing belt it has a chain. The cam is driven by a chain that requires no maintenance.
Usualy the tensioner is sold as an assembly-meaning you wouldn't just be replacing the pulley as the springs tend to weaken as often as the bearings going out. If you hear a noise and belt is not rotton/loose and are sure it is the pulley, after you have replacement, note belt routing. Use a socket that fits pulley bolt and move right against spring tension. If left req'd use pry bar. use uppermost tensioner to make it easier. Have helper (or use other hand) to get belt off. Remove old tensioner from block and add new. Replace belt.
