Do this when the engine is cool. Use an appropriate container to catch any coolant spillage. Then take the thermostat cover off, take out the old thermostat and clean up any rust or sealant residue. Put the new thermostat in with a new gasket and put the cover back in place. Refill the radiator with coolant and check for leaks.
no it is fwd
I paid $89 for a thermostat and $98 for labor
Depends on what engine it has
There is no secondary fuel pump.
You need to be more specific. as in what solenoid are you looking for?
On a 1989 Chevy Celebrity the timing is controlled by the engine control module, there is no specification or provision for adjusting the timing manually.
Move the heat control lever to the off position.
The voltage regulator is inside the alternator.
The firing order for a Chevy Celebrity V6 is: 1 2 3 4 5 6
Get a T10 screw bit to undo the two screws that are in the cover; then just pull off the cover and twist the bulb holder.
When in doubt, throw it out. If there is any doubt the thermostat may be bad, just replace it with a new one. If you insist on testing it, you can drop it into a small pot of water and heat it up on the stove. A 195 degree thermostat should open just before the water boils.
If your 89 Celebrity has the 2.5L 4 cylinder engine the ignition module is mounted on the block below the intake manifold toward the drivers side of the engine. If your 89 Celebrity has the 2.8L V6 the ignition module is mounted on the block on the radiator side of the engine on the drivers side. Both are a bit of a pain to get to, but it is doable.
