Where is the camshaft position sensor located on a 1999 ford ranger 4.0 liter engine
The 2002 Ford Ranger camshaft position sensor is located on the back of the camshaft. The rear engine plate will need to be removed in order to view the sensor.
top rear of engine
The camshaft position sensor is on top of the engine. It is on top of a shaft in the same place that older rangers had a distributor.
I have the same engine in my 1995 Ford EXPLORER : I can't see the camshaft position sensor but from what I have read it is on the top of the engine , near the center line , at the back of the engine near the firewall
I'm not a mechanic / technician but from what I have read : The camshaft position sensor on top of the camshaft position synchronizer on the Ford 4.0 liter EFI , V6 engine , is on top of the engine , near the center line , at the back of the engine near the firewall * apparently you can't see it until the upper intake manifold is removed
Some of the 1992 Rangers had the camshaft position sensor on top of the engine in the same hole where the distributor used to be. Some Ranger engines did not use a camshaft sensor at all.
On a 1999 Ford Ranger : You don't mention the engine size but from what I have read the camshaft position sensor for the 4.0 liter EFI , V6 engine ( which is an Over Head Valve / pushrod design engine ) Is on the top of the engine , near the centerline , at the back of the engine near the firewall * apparently you can't see it until the upper intake manifold is removed
From what I have read , on the Ford 4.0 liter EFI , V6 engine : The camshaft position sensor is on the top of the engine , near the center line , at the rear of the engine near the firewall * apparently you can't see it unless the upper intake manifold is removed
On the Ford 4.0 liter EFI , V6 engine : From what I have read : The camshaft position sensor is on the top of the engine , near the centerline , at the rear of the engine near the firewall . You cannot see it unless the upper intake manifold is removed
I'm not a mechanic / technician but from what I understand the camshaft position sensor on the Ford 4.0 liter EFI , V6 engine is on the top of the engine , at the REAR of the engine , near the firewall . You won't be able to see it ( at least I can't on my 1995 Ford EXPLORER , which also has the 4.0 , EFI engine )
You don't mention the engine size on your 1999 Ford Ranger , but if you have the 4.0 liter EFI , V6 engine : From what I have read , the camshaft position sensor is on the top of the engine , near the centerline , at the rear of the engine near the firewall ( apparently you can't see it until the upper intake manifold is removed )
