it is probably not the "switch". the crv has a "buss" connector located inside the door. this connector has multiple pins on one side with openings for the pins on the other. what happens is over the years opening and closing the dorr causes these pins to become loose and not fit correctly thus causing the failure of the dome light. Honda has a mechanics kit which they use to fix the problem. this is normally a dealer or authorized repair shop fix.
Chances are your drivers door jamb switch is bad; I would replace it.Mark
THERE IS A CHANCE IF THE DOME LIGHT IS STAYING ON IT IS NOT THE THE DOOR SWITCH, BUT WORN DOOR HINGE BUSHINGS,
If you need to replace your dome light switch you will need to remove the cover first. You can use your fingernails or even a small knife to get the cover off.
The door ajar switch is part of the latch inside the door.
You don't. The switch is all one , you will have to replace the entire switch.
On the centre of the ceiling (light for rear section)
Take out the fuse or replace door switch with aftermarket
Check for a defective door switch that has become ground against body or headlight switch
The switches for the dome light on each door of a 2004 Olds Alero are at the front of the door. They are on the door frame where the door meets the frame when it is closed. If the dome light is staying on, try checking the dome light control by the headlight switch, also. It may have gotten bumped when entering the vehicle.
The door switch, (a little push button on the wall that the door smacks against, is probably stuck. But they are a pain to replace.
Interior light comes on by itself. Overhead switch not effective and when it is slid back and forth the light for seatbelt check comes on on the dash. Seatbelts check ok. I get a check seatbelt tone when I slide the overhead switch back and forth. How do I replace interior dome light?
