Just did this myself, please read all the way through this. It's under the front side of the engine. If you happen to have the replacement part it makes it a little easier to locate by comparing the new one to the old one. If you're laying down looking up from the bottom of the vehicle it's on the passenger side, right across from the radiator. Look for the serpentine belt and it'll be REALLY close. Now, when I went to take the bolts off it apparently hasn't been changed ever, and both bolts snapt off easy, indicating it hadn't been changed ever. I suggest to lube it up first with some PB Blaster or WD-40 and let it sit before you try it, it should come off with an 8mm socket and you'll probably need an extender if you use a ratchet. Also, the housing for the older sensor fell apart and left the magnetic "reader" part of the sensor lodged on the old bolt that snapped off. I had to use a pair of vice grips and loosen it little by little due to the lack of space to work with. When it finally came off, the new one slipped right into place. Since the bolts were snapped off I had to think of a way to keep it on there. A little automotive glue and some Duct Tape did the trick. If your bolts don't snap off then you won't have to worry about half of this.

on the throttle body
I have a '95 E150 and a '96 E250, both are 4.9 straight 6 cyl. One has 1 O2 sensor and the other has 2, one on each half of the exhayst manifold. I believe the 96 has 2. but it is an E250, not sure about the '96 E150.
The Ford 4.9 liter / 300 cubic inch inline 6 cylinder engine does not use a timing chain . It has a gear on the end of the crankshaft that meshes with a gear on the end of the camshaft
