it's been a while since i have worked on these machines, but i will try. the alternator should be on the top right/left of the motor. there should be a bolt that is on a mount with a slot on it.(i'm basing this of my experienc, i could be wrong). loosening the bolt should allow you to move the alternator making the belt easy to remove. after that, there should be a couple of bolts left to remove. check all over, on top/bottom, behind, everywhere!
i'm going to guess that the starter is under the motor towards the "back end" i.e. opposite end of the alternator. that should only have a few electrical lines and bolts on it. NOTE: spray some WD40 on the bolts to loosen them! do not try to remove the bolts without spraying them with something. those bolts will be a bear to remove.
i hopes this helps.
Remove the positive cable from your 1988 Chevy Astro battery. Remove the cables from the front of your starter. Remove the starter retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install the new starter.
How do you replace the alternator on a 1988 Pontiac Fiero
You should begin by removing the positive cable from your 1988 Chevy Corvette battery. Remove the cables from the front of the starter. Remove the three starter retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install the new starter.
It is mounted on the starter motor itself. When you get another starter, it will have the solenoid mounted on it already. If it is bad, just replace the starter, I would not change just the solenoid.
Remove the positive battery cable from your 1988 Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck battery. Remove the cables from the front of the starter. Remove the starter retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install your new starter.

Disconnect the 1988 Century battery. Remove the alternator battery. Disconnect the alternator wiring, then unbolt the alternator. Bolt in the new alternator, then reverse the procedure to finish the installation.
Replace the starter
It is inside the alternator.
The starter is on the bottom of the block on the side nearest the radiator.
At the rear lower end of engine
on the roght side below the manifold
Underside, near oil pan.
NO Chevy did not make a 3 bolt starter. It only requires 2 bolts.
The starter solenoid is not disengaging once engine is started. Rebuild starter or replace with a new starter.
It's inside the alternator. Almost all automotive alternators have an integrated regulator. i believe it's built into the alternator
takeing it off and putting a new one on??
What size motor? What accessories do you have? BClear.
Look at the lower rear end of engine
You should hope so. The other option is a damaged flywheel which is a much larger project than replacing a starter.
To remove the alternator on 1988 Honda CRX the negative battery must first be disconnected. The belt needs to be loosen and the mounting bolts need to be removed as well. When unmounted the alternator will slide off, and a new unit can be replaced.
it depends on who does it.
