The burned out bulb has blistered (like an old fashioned camera flash bulb) and is too large to fit through the access hole. 1. Remove the old bulb from the socket
2. Crush the old bulb with a pair of needle nose pliers
3. Carefully shake out the broken bulb fragments into a proper waste container
4. Attach new bulb to the socket
5. Attach socket to light housing
