take a smaller screwdriver pop the speaker covers off then un bolt and replace your gonna need a good assortment of little 1/4 ratchet stuff to make esier also don't do it when its 90 out i made that mistake.
Remove the whole front panel, and get a manual on how to re-do the whole dash interior.
The largest speaker that will fit in the dash is a 4"x6". Not sure what the exact dimensions are on the OEM speaker. front speakers are 4x6 and the rear or 6x9

The speakers were all recalled due to a vibration in them. Take it to the Jeep dealership and they will replace all the speakers in the car at no charge.
i replaced spkrs on 78 caprice and 79 by carefully prizeing covers off with a small screwdriver then unscrewed retaining screws with a stubby screwdriver If You are replacing the speakers, make sure you get the originals or a very shallow speaker since there is not much space between the dashboard and front window. Or you can just remove the entire dash and then install the speaker... The space for the speaker is less on the right side. Just to make it even funnier!
Dash speakers are 3 1/2 inches. They are a real pain to replace. You need to remove all lower portions of the dash.
Rip the old ones out. Then replace with new ones.
Under dash behind glove box. They are a blast to replace as I have done to mine.

Answer If I'm not mistaking the dash board speakers on your car are under the dash, close to the windshield. I think you would have to remove the entire dash to be able to get at them so do yourself a favor, put good speakers in when you install them, as taking the dash apart is one heck of a job.

Remove center stack bezel (radio, heater control), remove screws from instrument trim panel at ctr stack and remove instrument trim panel, remove dash top panel, replace speakers.
