In order to replace the Foglight on a 01 Hyundai XG300 you need to first remove the headlight on whichever side the foglight is located on.

This is the easiest and cleanest way to get access to the foglight assembly.

As soon as you remove the bolts holding the headlight, please remove the wiring to the headlights, each headlight should have about 2-3 plugs.

You are not ready to remove the headlight, it simply just slides out. You will not have access to the fog light, you can look straight down and feel the fog light. There is 2 Phillips screws holding the fog light, remove those two. You will now be able to slip out the fog light assembly by pushing forward on it, slipping out through the front of the car, not the inside.

You can now open the cap to replace the fog light bulb and do whatever you need. I belive the bulb size is H1 or H3, you'll see it written on the bulb itself.

Unscrew botton screw, then you have to gently pull off front grate and unscrew 2 top screws. The grate does not need to come completely off to do this. Just enough to work the lamp out. Disconnect wires & replace with new part. Reverse to install new lamp.

AnswerThis is something you should definitely take to a garage & let a professional handle! It'll cost around $500 to have the fog-light lenses changed due in part because they have to remove the front-end of the body to gain access.

*Edited: Did you mean you should definitely NOT take it to a garage? $500 to replace a light is far too steep, when it's simple enough to do it on your own.

1) Headlight removal: Look under the hood to the front sides of the engine bay and unlatching the headlights. Unlatch the hooked metal clip that wraps around the headlight, and then lift the lever upwards while gently pulling at the lens from the front of the car. Once pulled forward unlatch the wiring harness from the back-underside of the headlight housing. Repeat on the other side to have both sides removed.

2) 6) Reinstalling: To reinstall the headlight first reattach the wiring harness onto the housing. Place the housing back into the whole in the front of your car and make sure the two pins on either side of the housing slide into the grooves on the inside of the hole. Put gentle pressure on the front of the headlight pulling pushing down on the lever on the inside of your engine bay. This may take some effort since it can be kind of tricky. Once seated in the car re-hook the metal latch around the inner housing and you are good to go.
