The Honda prelude has a sort of strange setup because of its acoustic feedback system. When you remove the speaker you will have to unclip the speaker. Then you will see a bracket looking thing in the back. If the speakers you bought are too large you may need to cut out the bracket. After that you may need to cut off the harness from the speaker wire and crimp it with the speaker you bought
You don't need to cut the wires at all, I just got mine installed in 5 minutes with the adapter speaker plug, I got them from Amazon for 16 bucks but you save a lot of time and you don't mess the wire system of your car with the black tape and stuff.
