u have to pull the driveshaft knock out the seal and install a new one, but if it is leaking the bushing needs to be replaced and u would need a bushing driver to install it. u can purchace a seal and bushing kit but the bushing is harder to replace
Yes you can, But the driveshaft won't be long enough.
Yes but you might have to change the driveshaft
It might. You'd need to check the diamter of the output shaft of the trans.
If you're talking about the length of the driveshaft, the front yoke should go into the transmission all but 1 inch.
The boot on my cv joint is stuck inside of the trans how do u go about getting that out and what else do i need to fix after that comes out
i have a 1996 ford ranger 2.3 4 cylinder automatic ,just had the trans rebuild and driveshaft but theres still a bit of play comming from the differential ea. time i either put it in gear i feel a boom from the rear (not the driveshaft nor trans) is it a big job to replace the rear diff? and $$$ ???? Ron
The universal joint(s) on the driveshaft are bad.
Yes, They are the same transmissions. The only difference is the driveshaft is longer on the extended cab.
The yoke on the driveshaft of a gm turbo 350 trans has a small vent hole in it. If the trans is over filled to the point fluid comes out of it you will do serious damage to the trans if you try to drive the vehicle.
The slave cylinder is inside the trans. If you need to replace it you will have to pull the trans out. Its not that bad, its a afternoon though.
the 2wd driveshaft will be too long...theres no transfer case. Cant i remove the transfercase and bolt the driveshaft right to the trans? New answer: The center shaft in the 4x4 transmission is a long shaft so you caninstall the transfur case on to it.The transmission in 2 wheel dr. trucks have a short shaft running through theTransmission. So what you are wanting to doWILL NOT WORK.Now you can take your trans. completely apart and remove the center shaft, andgo buy a short shaft for your trans. Then put it all back together. Remove thetransfur case housing on your trans. and install a regular tail shaft housing ontoyour trans. Plus a 2 wheel drive drive shaft. And you now have a 2- wheel dr.
It will bolt up to the engine, but the cross member will not work as the 400 is longer than the trans. in the 86. You will also need to make a down shift switch as the 86 trans. has a detent cable, the 400 has an electric switch. There is also the driveshaft issue.
