If you have 5.4 liter, you don't have an Explorer, you have an Expedition. Big difference! Anyway, the plugs are located under the ignition coils. If you look at the top of the engine, running alondside each valve cover, you will see four round, black, plastic objects, each with an electrical connector plugged into it. Those are the coils. They are each held down with a 7mm screw. Remove the screw, pull the coil out, and the spark is down in that hole that the coil sits in. It takes a 5/8ths spark plug socket on an extension to reach them. The hole is about 3 inches deep.
