Follow the hoses to the back side of the head, on the passenger's side. You will notice a housing for a few hoses. On the rounded portion of that fitting, is where the thermo is located.(facing out towards the fender) Remove breather tube, disconect any wires or connectors, that may, be in the way, ie; O2 sensor. You don't want to break anything, it's a little tight in there. Release pressure from the radiator, by opening cap. Remove hose that goes into the housing. There are two bolts that hold this on. The bolt on the top, is for a groung wire. Replace thermo and seal. The thermo and seal must mate together in the corrrect way. Getting the seal seated right is the key. I removed my battery for easier access. Good Luck...
FOLLOW BOTTOM HOSE FROM RADIATOR, UNDO THE 10MM BOLTS, REPLACE THERMOSTAT WITH NEW ONE...AFTER CLEANING SURFACES,NEW GASKET SHOULD BE PUT IN. TIGHTEN BOLTS BACK UP... BAZZING!!
Where is the thermostat located on a 1987 Buick LeSabre?
locate the top radiator hose and follow it to the motor, unbolt the housing it is connected to and remove the old thermostat replace it and put it back together
the thermostat is located on the passenger side of the car if you are looking directly at the engine after raising the hood it is on the end of the upper radiator hose in the housing simply remove the two bolts and remove old thermostat and put the new thermostat and rubber gasket in the same way old came out
To change the thermostat on a 1987 Chevy van, drain the radiator and locate the thermostat under the upper host assembly. Remove the bolts holding the thermostat in and replace it.
To replace the thermostat on a 1987 Nissan pickup, drain the radiator. Locate the thermostat which is under the top hose assembly, and remove the screws holding it in place. Put the new one in position and refill the radiator.
The thermostat on a 1987 BMW 325i can be found by following the upper radiator hose. The thermostat will be located on the side of the engine.
Follow the top radiator hose at the end of that hose is the thermostat housing. The thermostat is located under the thermostat housing.

The transmission dipstick on a 1987 Honda Civic is located to the left of the oil dipstick. It is close to the left edge of the engine.
