How do you replace the thermostat located on a 1994 Subaru Legacy 4WD?
the thermostat is located under the car just follow the big lower radiator hose to the motor and its right there
True-- thermostat is located inside the engine part (water pump) where the lower hose attaches to the engine. Be careful with the bolts, use penetrating oil, you do not want to break one. Try to use a Subaru thermostat and gasket-- expensive, but cheaper than an overheated engine, most places do not stock the required thermostat, being an oddball temperatiue (167F), putting in a "regular 195F" thermostat WILL cook your engine. The gasket is really an O-ring affair-- it works nicely. Try not to re-use the old O ring gasket.
well first you need to know where the thermostat is located. follow the radiator hose on bottom right to the engine. you can access it only from the bottom. unscrew the 2 bolts(careful not to round the heads or break the bolts. if its rusted use WD 40 and let soak for a few min then open) holding the thermostat shell (DONT FORGET TO DRAIN THE ANTIFREEZE). remove the thermostat and O shaped ring. replace…
What does it mean when water is jetting out of the back of the water pump on a 1991 Subaru Legacy is this a pressure release system does it mean the thermostat is failing?
Follow the lower rad hose from the rad to the engine, the thermostat is located under the thermostat housing on the engine end (2X10mm head bolts). Notes: 1) if these bolts have not moved in a while it is likely best to spray them with oil for a bit, they are steel bolts in an alumnium housing located in an area almost impossable to get a drill to, so be careful. 2) using an aftermarket…
This thermostat is located on top where upper radiator hose meets engine for the 1.8 litre engine.Be sure you purchase a quality thermostat with the checkball. This engine is not as picky as later subaru engines regarding the thermostat but it is still advised to use a subaru thermostat if possible.Remove all air by bleeding, filling very slowly is best way to avoid the trapped air pocket
