Rear: Brake, Back-up, Tail, Turn signal (3 bulbs, all # 3157)
To access the rear bulbs, open the liftgate and remove the two Phillips head screws from the side of the housing as shown in the center photo above. Slowly and firmly rotate the assembly away from the vehicle until it disengages from the ball pin socket that secures it in back.
Each of the three light sockets, all containing the same exact bulb type, can be removed by turning them counter-clockwise 1/4 turn.
Taillight harness connector
To remove the taillight harness, slide the red lock tab up and pull connector off.

The 1993 Jeep grand Cherokee brake light switch simply plugs in and out. The brake light switch is located beneath the dashboard on the drivers side of the engine compartment.
To replace the brake light bulb you need to remove the whole light assembly. Once removed the change is simple.

Replace the bulbs
If equipped, it is above the liftgate glass.
Failed circuit board on the back of the light.
Replace the bulb. There are usually 2 filaments in each bulb and one is most likely out. Replacing it should solve the problem
They aren't. The brake light circuit is not connected with the headlight circuit.
You need to check the wiring for power to the bulbs.
Why ? Just replace it.

its not a switch its a fuse check the fuse and the light fuse is under the driver side dash look in your manual for brake light fuse
Either the brake light switch is out of adjustment, or has gone bad.
The circuit board/socket in the tail light has failed.

Mine simply needed brake fluid to fill it to the line indicated on the brake fliud container.
check your brake lights if they not worhing replace fuse or brake light switch
The brake light switch is behind the brake pedal.
Defective or mal-adjusted stop light switch? Usually located at the upper end of the brake pedal under dash area
Check the bulbs in case they have fused, next check the fuse, and finally it could be the brake light switch which may need replacing
To replace the brake light on a 2000 Ford Explorer, remove the screws holding the brake light in place. Gently, but firmly, pull the brake light out of the vehicle and replace with a new one.
