myself i took the belts off first and used a 10 m socket and rench it is in a very tight location after you take out all the bolts use a long flathead screwdriver to break the seal when replacing with the new pump make sure it is cleaned wiped down it took me about 3 hours to do. undeneath the front passenger side be sure to take the plastic panel off to give you the extra room needed.
I am adding that you should remove the top engine bracket on the 1.6L(3, 14mm bolts), for extra room. Watch the UTube Video on how to remove, or adjust the belts, and get them out of the way. A ratcheting wrench would be the best, for those 10mm bolts. mark where the long one goes. Make sure you don't remove the wrong bolts by looking at the new water pump, to see where they are located; once they are loose enough, they should come out with the fingers. Don't remove the pump's pulley until you have it out of the car.
