You'll need the radio code to do this. When you reconnect the battery the radio will display the word 'code' when switched on. The code should have been recorded in the vehicle handbook by the dealer, you enter this four digit number by using the preset keys. If you get it wrong, you will probably have three attempts. The radio will then lock out for around an hour or so.
If you have lost the code you can visit the radio manufacturers website and ask for help - you will need to prove ownership of the vehicle, or a visit to the local Opel dealer may help.
The 2005 comes with a five digit (all numbers) code. After the battery is replaced, turn on the radio. The radio should show "Code." Simply punch in the five numbers on the turning buttons and the radio will immediately start working.
Its possible that maybe your radio has been replaced? So the radio code that you have, might not be the correct one for the radio. I would suggest pulling the radio out and getting the serial number off the radio, then just call a Mercedes dealer and they can get the correct radio code for you from the serial number.
Are you serious?
One - the radio runs off the battery. Two - if the battery has been replaced, during the time it wad out of the car all its memory was lost. You may have to reset it from scratch. Three - it's a coincidence.
There is nothing to reset except the radio. Insert the 5 digit radio code to reset the radio and then reset the clock and presets for stations.
check your fuses
The computer only resets when the battery is removed. The alternator just charges the battery, so if the battery is left connected when the alternator is replaced, the computer should not reset.
Disconnect battery for about 5 minutes. Then connect it back. Should reset radio.
If you remove the battery or break the connection to it, you have reset it. That is why the presets on the AM/FM radio disappear. The question is how. You do not have to reset anything except the radio presets and the clock.
it should work fine unless you have it unplugged for too long. i have replaced batteries in these cars before and did not have to reset the radio
