well shannon your computer has detected a problem with the

emissions system and it will need to be corrected before the light

will go out. It can be reset by disconnecting the battery for a few

minutes or with a scan tool but it will just come back on if you do

not repair the problem that caused it to illuminate in the first

place. Have the cars codes scanned and see what needs to be

repaired.

Isuzu Rodeos made in or after 1995 have a port under the dash

called an OBD-II (On Board Diagnostics) port typically located

between the steering wheel and the pedals. You can typically hook

up an OBD-II reader that can read the vehicle's OBD codes and tell

you why the check engine light is coming on, and most will give you

the option to reset the light -- though it's usually a good idea to

address the problem. You can buy an ODB-II reader at many stores

that sell tools and automotive parts and accessories or you can ask

one of your mechanic or car savvy friends if they have an OBD

reader and if you can borrow it.
