Because the engine provides the power to operate the drivetrain, which is what makes the car move in the first place. Turn the engine off, and there is no more power going to the drivetrain - the remaining movement of the car until it stops is simply inertia.

However, You may have been warned, by the light, not to "stay at 4krpm 110-120kmh" or not to "downshift rev hard". It could be that the emission sensors are overloaded by the down shifting and the computer can't maintain the power. The computer may be telling you, via the warning light, to KNOCK IT OFF!
