I have a 1998 Suzuki Sidekick JX 4X4 4 Doors, How do I set the timing? Please show me the steps thank you.
unscrew the distributor pull it out about half way with the distributor cap off and turn the rotor clock wise to disired position
this is the correct procedure http://www.kick-fix.com/IGN_timing/8v-procedure.html
It is possible that when you set the timing marks, or installed the distributor, the engine was not set to TDC (top dead center on the compression stroke of the #1 piston) and the timing is 180 degrees off.
I'm not sure if you can on that model. If it has a distributor, you can loosen the hold down bolt and turn it to advance or retard your timing. If it doesn't have a distributor, it set by the ecm.
its one of these but my full schematic set shows on power windows this year. this circuit uses a door lock circuit breaker , in fuse box. 30amp fuse, will be obivious. says left dash. this fuse runs windows and door locks both. so if both functions are dead, bingo, on fuse.
You can't set the timing but you can either advance or retard it from the distributor.
Waht is the engine number, size etc. I imagine it is like most other engines, in that you set the crank to TDC, and position the camshafts agaisnt the marks - fit the new belt ane then rotate the engine manaually for 2 turns, re check the marks and if all is OK, refit the covers. Roy
