Usually there are alignment marks on the two sprockets (or whatever you want to call them. The two marks should face eachother(usually). You might have manually rotate then engine over some to align them. Usually can be done if one can get a wrench with some leverage behind it and turn the crank shaft vibration dampener pulley.
