One thing I do is use WD-40. Spray a little bit on a piece of cloth or paper towel, and put it on the outside edge of the belt and then roll backwards while holding it there. Albeit this is a temporary fix, but does work for a while. Keep in mind after a while this will get black and sling onto your swing-arm, so you will have to take a toothbrush and scrub the belt and swing-arm. I'm doing research into a spacer to possibly stop this.
If the drive belt is squealing, then one of two things is wrong. Either the belt is loose or it is worn out. Adjust the belt tension or replace the belt.
Change the belt
Check all belt driven accessories to see if one has a bad bearing or is binding
Replace belt self tensioner, if applicable. Adjust belt tension. Replace belt. Have ac pressures checked. AC compressor may be failing.
I had the same problem, so I took the belt off and washed it in soapy water. I then took a wet, soapy cloth and wiped off all of the pulleys. The squeal in my Aerostar was caused by a leaking power steering pump, which leaked fluid on the belt, causing it to slip and squeal.
Sounds like a loose serpentine belt. After it starts moving, it will heat the surface that contacts the pulleys, so if you turn off the key and then turn it back on to the start position, the squeal may appear to stop. But next time when the belt is cold, it likely will squeal again. Time for a new belt ?!!
Heck yea yuppie stop smoking the pole and ride
belt needs to be tighter and remove all oil and grease with cleaner and possibly use some belt dressing
could be power steering belt.air conditioner belt or any other belt on the engine get some belt soap and apply to belts if this doesnt stop it, replace blet that is stretched
Your Accessory Drive Belt may be slipping. This is often due to a wobbly pulley (water pump, air cond compressor, oil pump, alternator, power steering pump, idler pulley, tensioner pulley) or a weak Tensioner or a badly worn Drive Belt or any combination of the three! This slip becomes obvious when you turn on the air conditioner (compressor clutch engages putting a load on the Drive Belt) or you start to accelerate from a complete stop or when going uphill. Usually when the engine is on a low gear and the momentum has not built up enough to overcome the load(s) that is placed on the Accessory Drive Belt. My wife's 2006 Escape had a wobbly Idler Pulley, weak Belt Tensioner and worn Accessory Drive Belt (ribs become sharp or V-like, while new belt grooves are U-like and fat). When I replaced those three the squeal went away and because the belt was turning the accessories optimally (alternator especially) the engine was running with extra oomph! It was not a difficult job to do.
Wear indicators on brake pads
The Squeal means its time to replace the Brake pads.
