first remove screws in the inside door handle then use a small flat head screw driver to pry the door panel of the metal door frame, door panels are held in place by plastic snap buttons and are easily breakable. you can find a package of these at any auto store for under 4.00$. after the panel has been removed enough to see between the two then disconnect the wiring harnes to the power controls , and speaker. this is fairly easy just take your time and remember what order you took it off. putting it back together is harder .
After removing the screws from the arm rest. Need to remove the plastic panel that goes around the inside door handle. It is held in place by 4 tabs the click onto the door handle plastic assembly. I use 2 small screw drivers between the plastic panel and the door handle assembly. Push the tabs away from the door handle. After you get three tabs you should be able to remove the plastic cover.

Take it to the dealer, this is not an easy job. Take it to the dealer, this is not an easy job. I did replace the outside door handle on my 1999 suburban drivers door. It is not a easy job and was very frustrating. Remove the inside door panel. The door handle is held on by two screws. There are also two rods to deal with. one for the lock the other for opening the door. Do not get them mixed up. I was able to get the new handle in with the door lock only partially in the new handle. Then with the new handle screwed in I was able to push the lock all the way into place. Test and replace door panel.
