You have to drill out the rivets in that panel to take out the motor
To remove the door panel on a 1994 VW Jetta, first remove the lenses of any lights that are in the door panel. If there are electric locks, the armrest will have to be removed by loosening the screw on the bottom. Then the door panel can be removed by loosening the 8 clips holding it to the door frame.
Remove the bolts and screws. The clips in the middle and top of the panel come out straight(screw driver from behind) do not do this at the bottom of the panel because they lift up and if you pry them straight out you will break them. The door lock assembly needs to be popped out from behind. Be careful not to destroy it. It takes a little persuasion. Most of the work on the door can be done by just laying the panel to the side. If you need to take it off the switches need to be unsnapped. The snap is very easy to break and is hidden.
Take off all the screws on the door panel.
