On my 1992 Rodeo with a V/6, I removed the starter first; removed pan bolts ; and took steering linkage loose. Then my pan came right straight down.
If its a 4 wheel drive, you have to at least lower the front axle to gain access to the front pan bolts, or pull the engine. The front axle has 4 bolts holding it to the frame if I remember correctly.
