I have never done any work on an S-10, so this is a guess. Most trucks you have to remove the instrument panel first giving you sight of a couple of bolts. You should also be able to open the glove box and find bolts as well.
first you have to get off the top dash board on top off held together by bolts, then more and more bolts to come.
How 2 take off a dash board from a s10 If you want to remove the complete dash assembly there are too many steps to list here. I would recommend purchasing a shop manual for that vehicle to guide you. It will be worth the investment. This job will test your patients and your memory.

The heater core is normally on the passengers side under the dash you should be able to get to it by taking down the plastic cover under the dash of the passengers side of the truck sometimes you have to take other parts of the dash out as well but be careful once you get things apart not to break anything.
