THERE IS NO GOVENOR ON THE YERF DOG. LISTEN TO THE RPMS DUDE YOURE AT FULL MAXIMUM THROTTLE HOWEVER YOU COULD RUN NITROMETHANE WITH A OZ. OF WD 40 AND BOOST YOUR POWER AND SPEED. I GOT UP TO 65 MPH BEFORE THE BACKEND BLEW UP AND THE FIRETRUCKS ARRIVED. FORGET ABOUT THE REVERSE GEAR. YOU WOULD HAVE TO PUT IN A NEW TRANSMISSION. jUST BUY A NEW GOCART WITH REVERESE IF YOU WANT THAT AROUND 2500$. KEEP ON BURNING!

Check and see if you have brake lights - If there are no brake lights then your shifter release solenoid will not release the shifter, it will be stuck in park. If this has happened then please check the wiring on the brake light switch which is located on the brake pedal. You will probably find a broken wire.

There is a switch called the reverse backup light switch attached to the shifter. When you move the shifter into reverse, the switch is closed and current goes back to the reverse lights. The switch is located on both auto and manual trans. After making sure your bulbs are good, that is where I would look. And make sure your fuses are not blown as well in your fuse block. There usually is not just a circuit dedicated to reverse lights only but there is always something a manufacturer will do some years just to be different.

Well this depends on the vehicle, some are located on the sterring colom next to the bottom, if its colom shift, if it has a floor shifter in it it can be in the consol under the shifter, or located on the transmission itself. depending on vehicle type, there should be a switch box on the transmission where the shift lever/cable attatches which has probably gone bad. the other type of reverse switch is located on your shifter. check these, assuming all fuses have been checked and are ok.
