with a hammer
I am trying to take the motor out of a 95' Olds cutlass supreme. The trans. is giving me problems. How many bolts hold it in.
If it's automatic look on the front of the shifrt knob towards the radio, and on the bottom of the knob you will see a push in horseshoe pin that has to come out to take the shifter knob off.
Take out the fuse.
theres a lock nut under the knob, loosen it on shifter and unthread...it hold it tight thats why its there
It is screwed on. Turn it counterclockwise. If it is an automatic there is a little horseshoe clip in the front of the shifter just pop it out and the shifter knob will pop off.
It is very easy, first turn the key to the on position but do not start the car, then move the shifter as far back as you can. Finally take a screwdriver and put it behind the clip in the back of the shifter knob then the knob will slide right off
Answeryou cant its part of the whole shaftIM UPDATING :)you can actually take the shift knob off. i would say it is easier to take the shifter arm off first by moving the boot down and there is a nut holding it there just loosen it by turning clockwise i think, if not just turn it the other way. with the shifter arm off you would have to actually cut the knob down to the shifter arm itself. there is not really an easier way sad to say. I am about to do this sometime soon with my shift knob.
Typically the shifter knobs on manual vehicles, unscrew counter-clockwise. On some vehicles however, the shift knob maybe glued on and may simply "slip off" Although typically the knob has been affixed with a "thread locker" and may take some force to remove.
take it apart and grease gear track inside.
its in the gas tank u godda take the tank off
take off the belt and there is one bolt take it off and put a new one one.
It does not twist off. You have to wiggle it back and forth and pull up on it. It takes some work, but will pull off.
