the best way is to first ohm it with the antenna disconnected test from center to shield for "open" it should be open then test from center to center for "short" it should be shorted
replace the antenna and test the VSWR on your antenna
First, ohm out the cable. Make sure there is continuity through the center of the coax through both ends, then test the shield in the same way. There should also be OPEN resistance between the shield and the center.
Once you've done that, connect the antenna normally then use a SWR bridge to help tune the antenna.
If you run the antenna under test in the receiving mode, then while it is rotated, you'll monitor signals received by the antenna under test. If you run the antenna under test in the transmit mode, then while you rotate it, you'll monitor signals received by a different antenna on the test range. Either way, the varying signal must be monitored at the receiving end of the link. It's a lot more convenient, and a simpler configuration, to have the signal monitor and the rotation/excitation controls for the antenna under test in the same place, in order to react appropriately to any funny things noted during the test run.
Remove the old antenna. Attach the universal antenna to the radio and replace the radio after finishing the task. Install the new antenna. Test to ensure the wiring works.
The code reader test connector, on your Ford E2 50, is located beneath the dashboard on the drivers side. The connector is on the left side of the steering column.
The tool designed specifically to test DC current from a Molex connector is called a Power Supply Tester.
There should be an " EEC TEST " connection in your engine compartment near the battery ( or power distribution box if you have one )
Place in which device is put under test.
It does not have a test connector
This is a problem caused by the antenna if there isn't something is wrong with your tv or satellite receiver. A bad coax cable, twin lead wire and/or connectors can be the problem. Shake the cable and connector to see if the ghost changes or static appears in the picture or sound. If it does you have found the area to look some more. If this test is negative, I would try a new very directional antenna and a new coax downlead.
The EEC test connector is in the engine compartment in front of the power distribution box (Helpfull)
Your antenna lead-in is broken, and the radio isn't getting any signal. That's why it keeps scanning and can't hear anything. Check the connection from the antenna to the cable, and if that's OK, then you'll have to replace the cable from the antenna to the radio. You did connect the antenna to it when you were checking it in the first car, right ? You can quickly test this hypothesis: With a radio in the first car, where no radio works, connect the power, but don't connect the car's antenna to it. Instead, stick the end of a different piece of wire ( 3 to 6 ft long) into the center hole of the antenna connector on the radio, and see if that makes it possible for the radio to start hearing things.
