I am doing it right now actually. Remove the dust plate (I am installing a new transmission), and get the bolts on from the front. Facing the vehicle, the biggest opening will be on the right side. It's not easy, but it has worked for me many times.
Good luck
remove transmission, usually dont come loose, might be a different problem
If they are Cherokee's then yes. Grand Cherokee no.
Look on the left side of a 93 Grand Cherokee. It will be the front one.
Will bolt up, but will not shift. The 1998 is controlled differently by the computer.
Buy a Hanes Manual for the Cherokee at auto zone, and it will tell you step by step instructions.

They are 43 Ft. lbs
Torque is not the type of bolt but a type of wrench used to tighten bolts. A torque wrench will tell you how tight a bolt is tightened like 60lb of torque or tighten to 80lb of torque so a bolt will be tight enough to stay in but not too tight that you strip the bolt.
You need to first pull the flywheel/magneto off of the crank shaft. The starter clutch is attached to the back side of it with bolts.
take a putty knife and put it under the edge

Remove each valve cover (four bolts.) Remove the gasket and set a new one in place. Set the valve cover in place and tighten the bolts to spec.
