How-to change clutch cover on yamaha r1?
To replace the clutch plate in a TTR 125 drain the engine oil, disengage the engine skidplate and the starter motor. This is a common issue with this model of Yamaha dirtbikes.
It's a real pain. I had to bend the head of a wrench to get at one of the 4 bolts holding it in. If you have the engine out, it's real easy. A lot of times the starter is the not the problem on these bikes. The starter bendix that is behind the clutch is the problem if you hear grinding when you try to use the starter.
Cams out of time.
there should be 6 clutch plates
Start by removing the stator side engine cover. There should be around 10-12 bolts (8mm). Next pull the flywheel. On the backside of the flywheel is 8 Allen bolts. Remove these and your starter clutch assembly will be off.
