Why does this moronic "service" put themselves out on Google as if they have an answer to a question they, in fact, have no answer for? This is the height of what is wrong with giving just anyone internet access. There ought to be some sort of internet-driver's license to filter out morons like the creeps at "answers.com". Pathetic morons. its true....
This depends on what light is blinking and what type of DSL modem you are using. If you are having problems connecting to the Internet via your modem during the blinking phenomena you will want to reset your modem. This is usually done by pushing a small button on the back of your modem or sticking a pin into the small hole in the back where the button is housed within. Look up your specific modem make and model online and do a search query for the users manual. Many manufacturers have PDF documentation online.
If the DSL Internet connection is not automatically connecting to the computer on a cold boot, it could be a problem with the modem. Try resetting the modem while the computer is off. Unplug it for 30 seconds, then plug it back in and wait until all lights stop blinking, then boot up the computer. If this does not work, get a new modem.
To find the adapter connected to a DSL cable, follow the DSL line from the wall socket where it enters your home. The line typically connects to a DSL filter or modem. Check that the filter is correctly plugged into the wall socket and that the DSL cable is securely connected to the modem’s DSL port. If you need to troubleshoot, ensure all connections are tight and check for any status indicators on the modem for connectivity issues.
You will need to buy a new modem that is designed for your DSL modem. This is due to the fact that the modem is designed to use the dsl signal opposed to the cable modem.
Yes, DSL requires a DSL modem as well as an Ethernet port to your PC or laptop.
A red DSL light on your modem typically indicates there is an issue with the DSL connection. This could be due to problems with the physical line, ISP issues, or configuration problems. Check the physical connections, restart your modem, and contact your ISP if the issue persists.
a generous file to assimilate the encryption for dsl modem router
No, a cable modem connects to a cat5 coax cable and a DSL modem connects to a standard phone line.
Their are several reasons as to why the internet light on the Embarq DSL modem is not coming on. One is the modem maybe in whats called Bridge modem. Which means it just translating DSL signal to a signal your PC can understand. The Firewall and routing of data have been disabled. Basicly the internet light means that modem is hold a ip address for the internet. Other possiable issue is that maybe issue with Embarq Network. Contact Embarq HSI Tech support for any help.
The comcast modem is a cable modem not a DSL modem so they cant be compared.
The short answer is that you don't. Sure, you can plug a fax modem into a phone line that supports DSL, but it is just using the dial-up capabilities of the line and not the DSL capabilities. A regular modem like that functions like a telephone and transmits in the audible frequency range and not the higher DSL frequencies. With DSL, you'd use a DSL modem (with or without an included router), not a dial-up modem.
You do not need a dial-up modem. However, you will need to either purchase or rent a DSL modem, which works differently from a dial-up modem, and is usually outside the computer.
