How do you turn off the general maintenance light on a 2005 Toyota highlander?

1. Turn the ignition key to the 'Lock" position with the odometer (total mileage) reading showing.
2. Turn the ignition key to the "On" position while holding down the trip meter reset knob/button.
Hold down the knob for at least 5 seconds. The odometer will indicate "000000" and the light will go off.
If the system fails to reset, the light will continue flashing.
Note: This procedure is in the 2005 Highlander owners manual under the section entitled "Operation of instruments and Controls (Section 1-6) and is not limited to the Highlander but may apply to other Toyota models and model years as well.
