have you tried the hanger through the weatherstrip? Also, if there is a piece of "trim" along side the window.....those are held on by plastic clips. Pop that off and you get better visability and more room to get the hanger in the door to grab the little "doo-hickey" that unlocks the door. I would try the weatherstrip thing first though.
