With premium sound system you have to bypass the factory amplifier and pretty much splice into the factory wires after the amplifier.
A good place for questions is the www.clublexus.com forums or the www.lexusownersclub.com forums.

Myself i have a 1999 gs400.
A loose wire in the speaker system would cause the music on the radio to break up in a 92 Lexus. The music will also break up if you do not have very good radio reception where you are at.
if you go to the library you can go to the refernces and look in a chilton wire diagram book for foreign and your year look under Lexus and the first page will tell you what page to look in for radio and give you the whole wire diagram for the whole system and make a copy cause you cant usually check those type of books out
if you have a after market radio in your car your ground wire is lose or not hooked at all.
For the 1998 Chevy S10 pickup the radio constant 12V+ wire is orange. The radio switched 12V+ wire is yellow. The radio ground wire is black, the illumination wire is gray. The left front speaker wire + is tan, the left front speaker wire - is gray, right front wire + is light green, right front wire - is dark green. The left rear speaker wire + is brown, left rear wire - is yellow, right rear wire + is dark blue, and right rear wire - is light blue.
same way you'd wire a radio in any other car.
When your radio doesn't work in your 2002 Lexus ES 300 it could be a fuse or a wire. You should take your car to a automotive professional.

It would go to the dimmer that controls the brightness of the dash lights.
For the 1998 BMW 318ti, the radio battery constant 12-volt + wire colors are red and white. The 12-volt radio accessory wire colors are purple and white. The ground wire is brown and the antenna trigger wire is white.
Unfortunately you would need the wire harness. So either get a new harness or a new radio.
