The other heavy gauge wire from the readings I got with my volt meter appears to be the power source. I must have got it right because everything has been working fine with the brake controller.

I'm answering my own question. The BLUE WIRE is behind the driver's side kick panel. On my '92 Jeep Laredo, it was folded up on itself with no connector.
