It isn't there, Dodge didn't wire the Dakota with one. You will have to wire the brake controller your self.
not sure, but most of them have a orange wire and a blue wire run from under the brake booster, to the back. these are perfect for your trailer brake controller and break away power.
The brake wire is under the floor mat.
The wire you are looking for is a white wire in the bundle that is closest to the brake pedal. Use a test light or meter to check voltage going through the wire when the pedal is pressed.
is ths for the trailer brake control? if so it's a heavy blue wire under the dassh on the drivers side of the truck. it will be a lite blue and about a 10ga. or 1/8in wire.
I just installed a brake controller on my 2009 Ranger several months ago. The wire you want to connect to on the brake light switch is the purple wire with the white stripe. This is one of two heavier gauge wires that are on the switch as well as some other lighter gauge wires. The other heavy gauge wire from the readings I got with my volt meter appears to be the power source. I must have got it right because everything has been working fine with the brake controller.
The Chevy dealer can sell you a wire harness that plugs in to your fuse box area that has all the wires necessary to attach the brake controler.
I am trying to hook up a brake controller on my 1998 k1500. I cann't find the brake light wire on the truck under the dash or the hood. I need help!
For the factory 7 pin wiring harnes, the brake controller wire is located behind the left (drivers side) kick panel by the floor panel. It has a small white tag labeled "brake". You may have to fish around a little bit to locate it, but it is there.
I'm answering my own question. The BLUE WIRE is behind the driver's side kick panel. On my '92 Jeep Laredo, it was folded up on itself with no connector. This is the wire that goes back to the 7 pin connector that operates the trailer brakes. It is typically connected to the BLUE WIRE on the brake controller. Dan
you get a 4 pin harness from the dealership and it plugs right in by the fuse block.
There is a plug up under the dash on the drivers side. The information is in the owners manual.
