Best Answer

Get a vtec ecu, depending on which engine you have. (P28, P08, etc)

then go to www.rywire.com and get the appropriate harness.

Can you bypass pressure switch on vtec solenoid?

It really depends on what ECU you have: On OBD1 ECU splice the D6 VTM wire onto the A4 VTS wire. On OBD2 ECU splce the C15 VTM wire onto the A8 VTS wire. My car is BB3 F20 OBD1 chassis with a P13 OBD1 ECU. My engine is an H22 OBD2 which came with no VTEC oil pressure sensor. I spliced the D6 VTM wire onto A4 VTS wire and hey presto, VTEC heaven. :D

Whats the difference in ecu's on a 1999 DOHC 1.8 and a 2000 civic si DOHC 1.6?

it depends, i would need to know the ecu's , vtec or non-vtec

Will a 1.6-6 Honda motor work in place of a 1.6-8 motor in a 2000 Honda Civic The Civic I am buying has a 1.6-8 engine and the one I am buying if it works is a 1.6-6 out of a 1997.?

The simple answer to this question is a "Yes." It can be done with a few extra parts from the donor car. The ECU (Engine Control Unit) must be replaced with one from the donor car, and a wire must be run from the ECU to the VTEC solenoid on the new (replacement) motor. There are many resources on the web on how to wire VTEC to be operational when converting from non-VTEC to VTEC.

Can you swap a vtec for a non vtec?

Yes, as long as you do the swap correctly and run off the correct ECU, there should be no problem.

What engines can you use in place of a D15Z4 without changing wiring ECU etc?

You can use any d15 series motor as long as it is not vtec. But also it isn't to expensive to switch to a d15b vtec motor you just need vtec ecu and wiring harness that can be found for about $100 on eBay. I switched my car from d15 non-vtec to d15b vtec for about $650 including the price of the motor.

What is a VTEC sensor?

its not really called a vtec sensor. its a Vtec Solenoid, the solenoid has an oil pressure switch mounted on the solenoid. When the head reaches a certain pressure the oil pressure switch sends a signal to the ecu and the ecu sends a signal to the solenoid to open the extra valves

Do i need the o2 sensor in your crx in order for the vtec to work?

The ecu activates the third lobe on your camshaft (vtec) if a couple of criterias are met; sufficient oil pressure rpm 5300 vehicle speed above 30 km/h If you don't have the o2 sensor working your ecu will give an error and the engine warning light on your dashboard will light up but the vtec still works.

Can you turn a CX motor into a v-tec motor with a v-tec head?

yes yes yes you will need a ECU from a vtec head, wiring for the vtec and might have to tap the oil line.

Will your oil pressure switch on your h22 not allow your vtec to engage?

If the switch is bad or you don't have enough oil pressure the ECU won't engage VTEC as to prevent damaging itself. Get a new switch.

How do you hook up vtec?

The VTEC system can not simply be hooked up. It is only found in certain Honda Engines. To install VTEC in a non-VTEC car the engine must be swapped in.

Can you use a vtec ecu on a non-vtec motor?

I'm pretty sure it would be a NO considering vtec engines have camshafts specifically made for high rpm use(when it kicks in). normal cars cams aren't different from low to high rpm. certain Honda's switch camshafts from low cam to high cam when vtec is activated

Can you put a d16z6 vtec head on a d15b7 non vtec block with the same compression ratio?

yes but you will need to run an oil line to the head, youll need a vtec capable ecu with a tune, and it is suggested to get arp head studs and pistons from the same head to be safe and do it right.
