where abouts is a egr valve in a 02 avensis d4d
There isn't an egr valve on an 02 Trans Am. The engine received upgrades from the Corvette that year that allowed for the egr valve to be deleted from the design.
Doesn't exist on an 02 neon
It depends on what engine you have but the 02 is in the exhaust pipe or exhaust manifold and the EGR is a round disc shaped thing on the rear of the engine.
I know on my DTI estate its either a 8 or 9 mil socket (Mines a 02 model) turn socket left (there is two bolts look like stars) disconnect black tube from old EGR gently pull old EGR out of its place. (Then do the whole process in reverse. ) I must stress in treating this EGR with care .(Make sure you replace the EGR in the same position of the old one.)
It is under the air cleaner outlet duct, mounted in the manifold in front of the valve cover.
I have the same thing wring with mine. The auto place told me that the egr valve will make the o2 sensor seem bad, so now im going to change the egr valve and hope the o2 senor is still good.Wait! Before changing the EGR valve, please look through the "Related Questions" below. The valve might be fine and it's a DPFE sensor, or the valve and secondary air system just need a cleaning.Don't throw money at replacing something just yet...See "Related Questions" below for more
I had the same problem with my 02. had to replace the EGR Valve.
Contacted the dealer and the 02 does not have an egr valve The original question was "where is the PCV valve located? An EGR stands for "exhaust gas recirculation" which is different from a PCV valve "positive crank case ventilation". Each serves a unique and different function within the engine. Therefore the original question remains unanswered! daaaaa... The PCV valve is located on the back side of the valve cover. You will see the hose that the valve is connected to, running out from the back of the valve cover. The actual PCV valve is screwed into the valve cover, and the hose will have to be disconnected to access the valve.
try changing the d.p.f.e. cost about $35,i just replaced one on a 2003 mercury mountaineer.
There are 2 sensors on this vehicle. Check youre exhaust pipe from the manifold down. Easy to locate--they look like a spark plug but have a wire attached to them. If youre vehicle idles real rough, youre EGR valve needs cleaning. Shops will tell you that you may need a new one but I was able to clean mine. Not sure you can clean 02 sensors.
On my '02 Dakota the PCV valve is on the driver's side valve cover. .
