Because that collection of white rich boys were the best educated, smartest and knowledgable by-product of the Enlightenment that had ever gotten together and not been hanged for doing it. And they could.... They knew that they had to figure out what was going to happen next, and they knew that they, personally, were not going to be around to decide the next steps. Go to the writtings of the Federalist Papers, and to the notes from various people about the Constitutional conventions.... Look at the lives of the people who were the so called founding fathers. These people were not hothouse nor vaccum-packed. They bleed a bunch. It was totally political, but they all had read the same books, that all had the same ideas, and almost none agreed on how to get to the same place. So, they compromised. It's called the Constitution of 1787.

∙ 16y agoPeople in power want it that way Answer The reason that the Constitution is 'flexible' is that it can be ammendended. This is an example of the brilliant foresightedness of the founding fathers. They made it that way so that it could change with the times and so that it could adapt as the nation grew. If it couldn't be changed, in the early days of the nation, we may have thrown out the system and gotten a new one. When and if the new one didn't work, then they would try a another new one. Having one flexible system helped provided stability of the new nation. A lot of other countries have since adopted this type of constitution. All of the Ammendments are revisions to the Constitution of the United States.
