They are the same. Absorption occurs when an atom interacts with a photon with energy corresponding to an electronic energy level difference in the atom. Emission is the reverse process.

What is the difference between raman effect and flueroscence?

Raman scattering involves the SCATTERING of electromagnetic radiation by molecules, not atoms Fluorescence emission follows an absorption process

What is the difference between an absorption and an emission spectrum?

Absorption spectrum is a gap in the overall spectrum. It happen when light makes an electron jump to a higher orbital and light energy is absorbed. Emission spectrum is light emitted at particular wavelengths (where the absorption spectrum gaps are). It happens when an electron falls from a higher orbital and emits light energy in doing so.

How do emission and absorption spectrums tell us about the composition of objects in our universe?

Each chemical element has a specific emission or absorption spectrum.

What is the difference between spontaneous emission and stimulated emission?

stimulated emission causes due to the energy difference between the higher and lower energy level state, but it doesn't depends in the case of spontaneous emission . spontaneous emission causes without any stimulation .In stimulated emission energy transfer is twice the energy transfer of spontaneous emission.

When is atomic absorption more sensitive than atomic emission in atomic absorption spectrometers?

Atomic absorption is more sensitive to atomic emission when the excitation potential is greater than 3.5eV.

Why is source modulation used in atomic absorption spectroscopy?

Source modulation is employed to distinguish between atomic absorption (an ac signal) and flame emission (a dc signal).

What are the strenghts of atomic absorption spectrometry compared to atomic emission spectrometry?

Atomic absorption spectrometry is more sensitive than atomic emission spectrometry.

What is the difference between spontaneous and stimulated emission of light?

stimulated emission causes due to the energy difference between the higher and lower energy level state, but it doesn't depends in the case of spontaneous emission . spontaneous emission causes without any stimulation .In stimulated emission energy transfer is twice the energy transfer of spontaneous emission.
