The "scramble for Africa" meant that European nations wanted to get to Africa as quickly as possible and claim land because they were all competing over their overseas empire. Europeans wanted to get some land and explore Africa because they did not know a lot about Africa and its geography, calling it the "dark continent." Imperialism in Africa meant there was a new market for trading and Europeans thought it was their duty to teach their "little brothers" about industrialization and European life.

The "Scramble for Africa" is one event in the larger event of imperialism. The term imperialism usually refers to Western and Japanese political and economic dominance, especially in Asia and Africa, in the 19th and early 20th centuries. The "Scramble for Africa" was the struggle between the various Western powers to colonize different chunks of Africa and, therefore, fits quite well into this general definition.

Is imperialism a good thing?

Yes and No. In a way imperiaism was good by helping other countries with issues like for example now the United States are helping Africa with their aids problem, starvation, homeless and education to try to fight for African's freedom against refugy camps and rebels trying to rule the people. No as in taking over other countries and controling the communties and torturing the wrong and innocent people.-Really its up to you to decide what to believe in.

How did imperialism lead to industrialization?

It would be difficult to link industrialization to Imperialism. Imperialism existed in the world long before the term was created in the 19th century. Industrialization was the result of a number of creative inventors over a long period of time to provide a better way to produce products that previously were handcrafted.

Why did Germany imperilized Africa?

Germany started it's colonization of Africa pretty late in the Europe-wide "scramble for Africa" (to use a contemporary term). But German colonialism was swift and brutal. Yes, Prussia (how Germany was called from 1871-1918) eventually benefited economically, but the overall investment was a loss. The same reasons apply for most countries. they colonized Africa to have control of the natural resources, such as copper and gems.
